Al LeClair Joins TNT Power Team to Give Back After His Daughter Battles Leukemia
Al LeClair is a loving and caring parent just like any other. But in 2008, Al’s world was shattered when he received the dreadful news that his 22 month old daughter had leukemia. This diagnosis was followed by months of ups and downs, worry, and treatments. But most of all, Al and his family were filled with hope.
Today Al’s daughter Dominique is a healthy 8 year old that enjoys doing things that most 8 year olds do. When Al was approached for the TNT Power Team he saw it as an opportunity to give back and fund research that has allowed his daughter to thrive. Although he’s not a runner Al will be participating as a member of the TNT Power Team completing the 10K at the Scotiabank Fredericton Marathon on May 10th. He’ll be participating in honour of his daughter and others who have been affected by blood cancers. “I want to do my part to ensure that more kids have positive outcomes, like Dominique did. We wouldn’t be here today if others hadn’t participated in similar initiatives in the past. It’s our turn to pay it forward,” said LeClair.
As a medical science liaison for Bayer Healthcare Al understands firsthand how important the funding of scientific healthcare research can be and so does his company. “I have received a tremendous amount of support from my colleagues at work. Their generosity has been overwhelming. My company supports all donations with corporate matching,” he says.
With a goal of raising over $2500 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada Al is set up to make a huge impact personally and professionally, while completing his first endurance event with Team In Training. We can’t wait for Dominique to see him cross that finish line!
