The Calgary Marathon for my 70th birthday!
I celebrated a major 70th birthday milestone in 2015 by participating in the Calgary Marathon. For someone who does not run, or even exercise, on a regular basis, this was a major accomplishment!
My daughter, Stephanie, joined me for this event. It was great bonding time for us as well.
At the time, I was Executive Director for the Prairies Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada. I thought it would be great to lead by example, but, as it turned out, it was much much more than that. The experience, including the weeks of training before, was one I shall not soon forget. Not only was this a personal sense of accomplishment, but knowing that I had raised, through generous friends and family, funds to support important research into the cause and cure for blood cancers, made it so very worthwhile.
Every step and every dollar make a difference...
An awesome experience!
