Power Team Member Glenna Birt – Thr!ve Education
When The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) approached the mother daughter duo of Glenna and Wendy Birt; partners at Thr!ve Education, to be a part of this year’s Scotiabank Bluenose Marathon Power Team, there wasn’t much hesitation. “Having been personally impacted by losing loved ones to cancer and currently aware of an extended family member battling Leukemia; collectively, all these considerations made me more than willing and anxious to do what I can to support the LLSC,” said Glenna.
As part of the TNT Power Team Glenna looks to embody the values of Thr!ve in her fundraising and training. As they teach their students at Thr!ve, Glenna is motivated to give only the very best of herself.
Thr!ve also teaches that little successes breed big successes, so Glenna knows that her part in training and fundraising can have a major impact on patients and families. “I understand the importance and need for ongoing research to find cures for blood cancer and other related diseases,” says Glenna. Taking this to heart she’s aiming for big success in fundraising, “with a commitment of $2500 I will strive to double or triple that, but won’t limit the goal to a specific number.”
Glenna is delighted to be taking on this challenge in tandem with her daughter Wendy and representing Thr!ve Education when walking in the Scotiabank Bluenose Marathon 10k this May. Setting an example by using the values they teach their students, Glenna is determined to make a positive impact on the cancer community through the Power Team and funds raised for the LLSC.
