Chronic Myeloid Leukemia

I'm Matt, a Chronic Myeloid Leukemia survivor. I was diagnosed in 2006 and after 5 years in clinical trials with inhibitor pills, my Leukemia mutated and the toughest part of my journey began.

I spent 5 years involved in clinical trials with inhibitor pills which kept my Leukemia in check. I found out that my Leukemia mutated and I needed a bone marrow transplant, which I received December 2011. In March 2012 I was sent home only to develop Graft vs. Host disease, which sent me back to hospital for awhile. I became the Honored Hero in May 2012. I've supported the team at kick offs, fundraisers and training runs. The funds raised by LLSC and TNT are important as ongoing research is vital in the development of continued or new treatments and with the fight to cure cancers. Together we can make a difference to not only extend life but improve quality of life as well. I'm lucky that I survived and get to help my wife raise our children.
